We recently went to DragonMart next to International City in Dubai and were very impressed with the selection and prices. This is much different than the usual mall shopping experience. You will not find this in the world's tallest building, or with marble floors, massive fountains or golden chandeliers... but you will find an enormous marketplace with tons of products at great prices.
I thought DragonMart was a single store, but it's actually thousands of importers that have small 'outlet' shops located there. Many have signs up for wholesale if you are looking to sample some products for possible import/export opportunities. The prices on clothing and houseware were hard to beat. You will want to spend at least half a day there due to the sheer size of the place. Areas are grouped by product type so its easy to compare prices for certain products. If there is no price marked just ask for 'final price' but there is usually some room to bargain. Those with set prices really seemed to stick with those prices, but I noticed they were much cheaper than other stores or malls I've been to. One shop had bamboo fibre bath towels (super soft) 4 for 100dhs as an example. Many clothes are marked 10-25dhs. Lots of great choices for baby clothes at less than half of mall prices.
Unfortunately the metro train services does not extend here yet, but there are plans for the future. There is bus service to International City, but am not sure if it stops in front of Dragonmart. If you have a car or will be in International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis or Education City areas for something then you should consider checking it out.
They have an informative website with lots of info at http://www.dragonmart.ae/
