Chuuk is known for it's world class wreck diving and is located in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). I've been fortunate enough to head there a few times for diving, checking out new wrecks each time. Hundreds of Japanese ships were sunk here in WWII by Allied forces. This was essentially the Pearl Harbor of Japan, with a main part of their Pacific fleet being based out of here. Many of the wrecks are too deep to dive (or at least for recreational divers), but there is still a good selection less than 100 ft deep. Even more options a little deeper. These pics are just from wreck diving in Chuuk. I prefer to stay at the Truk Stop and do my diving through them. |
