- Latvia
- Australia
- Poland
- Uruguay
- Greenland
- Fiji
If you are looking for an adventure then I would definitely agree with LP’s recommendation for an African trip to Botswana. I travelled across Africa from Cairo to Cape Town a decade ago and can definitely say it was one of my craziest adventures (I’ve also been hearing a lot of good things about Mozambique as a top travel spot since their civil war ended a few years ago). Japan, USA and Australia will appeal to many since they are large enough to offer something for everyone: beaches, mountains, tropical islands... all got it.
Latvia, Poland and Uruguay can be easier on the budget and I’m happy to see Eastern Europe taking a couple spots on the LP list. Eastern Europe has been one of my favorite destinations for the last few years, having just completed a roadtrip there. Greenland is the only western European country on the list and definitely not one of your typical ‘European summer holiday’ destinations.
My top recommendation from the Lonely Planet list is Palau, also known as the Gem of the Pacific.
I’ve noticed the top spot of the Lonely Planet tends to become more mainstream of a travel destination. It will be interesting to see if Botswana makes it into that category joining other countries such as Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa which are all well known for tourism.
Stay safe and keep on traveling!
